Traumatic events and adverse experiences can stay with us until we heal them. Through evidence-based treatment modalities, deep healing can take place.
EMDR is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD with many randomized-controlled trials completed. EMDR helps decrease distress associated with memories from our past that cause us pain, while attaching those memories to adaptive material so that we can heal.
CPT and WET work on stuck points and cognitions that you hold about yourself and the world in relation to past events.
Parts work is used as an adjunct to treatment. Have you ever felt more than one way about something? For example, feeling happy about a promotion, but also anxious that you might fail? By working with all of the parts of who we are, we can help further our understanding of why we react to certain situations in the ways that we do. Parts Work pairs well with trauma modalities to help heal attachment wounds and trauma.
Betrayal Trauma: If you recently (or even long ago) discovered your partner was engaged in infidelity and are having trouble with sleep, flashbacks to discovery/disclosure, having a hard time finding your feet in this new reality, or questioning your ability to judge other people/make good decisions, you may be suffering from the affects of betrayal trauma While infidelity is not a qualifying event under the DSM-5 diagnosis of PTSD, many betrayed partners experience PTSD-like symptoms including high levels of toxic shame after learning their partner has engaged in infidelity. Infidelity recovery can be a lonely place. Trauma treatments can help.
